Keep it simple

Clock 16. June 2008 by Biblical Recorder Letter

I asked myself what will be my legacy after I shed this mortal body? I got a rather simple answer from God, and I am convinced it is the answer to the trend occurring in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). What are we to do about the lost souls around us? Here is the answer.

We in the SBC are too complicated. We need to return to the simplicity Jesus taught. We must live like Jesus, love like Jesus and leave behind what Jesus left behind. We must do this corporately and individually as Christians. The instructions on how to accomplish this are in the Bible. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to read and understand what Jesus meant and how to participate in this wonderful journey with Him.

Southern Baptists, as Christians, are no longer attractive to the lost world around us. The lack of blessings from our efforts proves this. We must get up close and intermingle in the lives of unsaved people and demonstrate what Jesus lived, how He loved, and what He left behind. When we start sacrificing and participating in this element of human relationships we can expect to see God pour out His blessings upon a denomination that once had this vision. Otherwise we will continue down the road of ineffective religion with its pride and egos.
